The World’s Most Popular Camera Tracking System Gets Even Better

Since its debut in 2018, RedSpy has become one of the most widely used camera tracking systems in professional virtual production and broadcast. Many broadcasters and film studios rely on it for its precision, stability, and straightforward operation, especially in environments where accuracy and reliability matter most.

The New Generation of RedSpy

RedSpy 5.0 builds on this foundation with a new hardware and software generation designed for modern virtual production workflows.

It supports ceiling heights of up to 42 meters and adds PTP sync and genlock. Absolute Lens Encoders and a wizard-assisted setup further reduce calibration time and simplify system configuration.

Users can choose between a server-grade Main Unit with redundant power supply, a Portable Main Unit with wireless operation, or a setup with no Main Unit at all. In every configuration, RedSpy uses the same industry-leading PoE tracking camera. This allows productions to scale or adapt without changing core tracking hardware.

As a result, studios can choose the architecture that fits their environment instead of adapting their workflow to the system.

Four Versions for Any Production Size

RedSpy 5.0 is available in four product versions, all built on the same broadcast-grade tracking technology:

RedSpy Air
Entry-level system for smaller studios, supporting a 5 × 5 m tracked area and 4 m ceiling height. No Main Unit required.
Starting from 7,000 EUR. Upgradeable to Air Plus.

RedSpy Air Plus
Unlimited tracked area and ceiling height, without a Main Unit.
Starting from 18,000 EUR. Upgradeable to RedSpy 5.0.

RedSpy 5.0
Standard system with a Portable Main Unit, suitable for mobile and mid-scale studio deployments.

RedSpy 5.0 Pro Broadcast
Flagship version with a rack-mounted, server-grade Main Unit and redundant PSU, designed for continuous broadcast operation.

Software That Changes Everything

Every RedSpy 5.0 system includes yearly licenses for three core software tools:

TWIM Lens Calibration Tool
A professional lens calibration system developed from over a decade of real-world experience. Prime lenses can typically be calibrated in around 15 minutes, and zoom lenses in approximately one hour. The results are production-ready, without additional cleanup.

RealLine Recording and RealLine WARP
Tools for recording tracking data to XML and FBX with timecode, while automatically applying lens distortion and film-back offsets. This reduces manual post-processing and ensures consistent renders.

RedSpy Control Center
A centralized, web-based interface that allows operators to monitor and manage multiple RedSpy systems across a network from a single location.

A Smarter Way to Manage Tracking Systems

Unlike systems that require direct access to each tracking unit, RedSpy operates entirely over the network. Multiple cameras and systems can be monitored, configured, and adjusted remotely, which is especially valuable in larger installations or multi-studio environments.

This approach improves operational efficiency and simplifies daily workflows for engineering teams.

Watcher X Add-On

In situations where retroreflective markers are blocked, limited, or impractical, Watcher X extends RedSpy with image-based tracking.

Rather than replacing optical tracking, Watcher X works as part of a hybrid system, maintaining continuous tracking when markers are partially or fully obscured. This is particularly useful in tight interiors, complex sets, crane moves, or outdoor scenarios. Setup takes only minutes, allowing productions to adapt quickly without changing platforms.

Proven for Virtual Production

RedSpy integrates seamlessly with Unreal Engine and other real-time rendering platforms, delivering stable, frame-accurate tracking in both predictable studio setups and more dynamic production environments.

By combining optical, inertial, and image-based tracking into a single system, RedSpy supports a wide range of workflows without compromising accuracy or reliability. For this reason, it remains a trusted choice for high-stakes production environments, from controlled studios to complex, dynamic virtual production setups.
