XR Tribute Honors Neil Peart with stYpe Technology

Los Angeles, March 31, 2025 – A stunning Neil Peart XR tribute has brought together music, technology, and visual artistry to celebrate the legendary drummer.

The project was led by Greg Russell, drummer for the Natural Science Rush Tribute Band and creative director at Xite Labs. Inspired by his admiration for Peart, and drawing on his past collaborations with Rush, Russell set out to create a one-of-a-kind immersive performance.

The XR Tribute Experience

Russell performed live in Xite Labs’ studio. He synced his drumming with a custom XR environment built in Unreal Engine. The design featured references to Rush’s Moving Pictures album and a nostalgic 1980s poster of Peart drumming on a raft in Quebec. The highlight was a digitally animated version of Peart’s iconic “Time Machine” drum riser.

How stYpe Technology Made It Possible

To achieve seamless integration, the team used RedSpy for camera tracking and StypeLand XR for real-time LED rendering. As a result, the production delivered accurate colors, stable tracking, and flawless interaction between Russell’s live performance and the virtual world.
