CBS Texas has launched a new AR weather studio powered by the stYpe Follower tracking system, bringing a major upgrade to how forecasts are presented. The station now uses a 270-degree green-screen stage that turns weather reports into an immersive experience. Right from the first moments on air, viewers can see animated environments that react to every move the presenter makes.
To build this setup, the station combined the stYpe Follower tracking system, HumanCrane, and StypeKit Autoaim. These tools allow the First Alert Weather Team to walk through visualizations of heat waves, summer storms, or high index days. As a result, the weather report becomes clearer and easier to follow.
The tracking volume is supported by 27 ceiling-mounted Follower Witness cameras. A jib fitted with a Follower Spyder Module connects camera movement and graphics in real time. The studio also includes 4 Follower 4 Channel Receivers, 16 LED Beacons, and 4 Mini Single Beacons. Each part works together to make presenter tracking accurate and stable across the full stage.
Presenters control graphics using 2 Follower iPad Trackers, which makes changing the scene fast and simple. At the same time, the HumanCrane with StypeKit Autoaim delivers smooth camera moves inside the virtual space. Thanks to this workflow, the entire system feels natural to use on-air.

The CBS Texas setup also highlights the broader ecosystem of partners that make these productions possible. Prompter People, a leading name in professional prompting solutions, has collaborated with stYpe to support exactly these kinds of demanding live broadcast environments.
Their ProLine Plus prompting system is integrated into virtual production setups using HumanCrane, enabling presenters to stay on-script while the camera moves freely through the virtual space, without compromising tracking accuracy or composite quality. It’s a combination that keeps the on-air workflow smooth even under the pressures of live television.
