BBC’s immersive broadcast graphics for Scottish referendum 2014

In one of the most elaborate projects to date, BBC production showcased superior skills in blending the real life set with augmented reality. In this high rated show made for Scottish referendum 2014, everything was subordinated to simplify the complex voting data while making it interesting and compelling for the audience. Some of the most innovative virtual graphics were shown such as “jumping” out of a screen (seen at 0:34 and 1:34).

For the perfect match between the real set and virtual graphics, BBC used Stype’s device for camera tracking, automatic aiming and focusing – the Stype kit paired with Vizrt’s virtual studio and a Stanton Jimmy jib.
